CSS is a front-end programming language that is used to describe how fonts, layouts, and the colors of web pages should be presented. The benefits of learning a foundational language like CSS are endless.
In addition to being a foundational programming language, CSS is also one of the easiest to learn, and it’s a skill that is currently in high demand by employers. CSS is a great starting point for learning to code, and is a versatile language that you'll be able to use on a variety of projects and applications.
CSS works in close conjunction with HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). If HTML is the “house” then CSS would be the “furnishings.” HTML tells your web browser how it should display images and text, and HTML tags guide the placement of media. CSS can then be added to give those elements creative flair.
We teach CSS as part of the curriculum for all of our immersive bootcamps. You'll learn the concepts at just the right pace, through a variety of activities, to help you grasp them quickly without falling behind.
We expand on programming language theory by allowing students to apply the skills they’re learning. Some specific CSS skills include:
• Absolute positioning
• +selector
• Centering
• Vertical alignment
• Link states
• Hover effects
During these collaborative sessions, students are paired up so they can work together on small projects or longer practice assignments. They allow students the chance to reinforce the skills they’ve learned during homework and morning lectures.
Students also have the chance to hone their skills during their full-stack portfolio projects that they tackle at the end of the bootcamp. Students have used these projects to develop:
• Clones of Amazon and other popular websites
• A Dungeons & Dragons-like app
• Photo sharing sites
• Scheduling apps

Our bootcamps teach other high-demand coding languages that you're sure to find useful in your career as a software engineer.
Short for Cascading Style Sheets, CSS lets you tailor the appearance of your webpage. You can change and craft layouts, colors, and fonts as well as implement other style options. Along with HTML, CSS is one of the most important front-end languages.
A common and popular language, JavaScript is one of the easier ones to learn. This scripting language is critical for integrating user interaction into your site, and it excels at creating dynamic page functions.
This is the official Redux user interface (UI) binding library maintained by the official Redux team. It’s necessary to learn for those wanting to work with React applications.
Ruby on Rails was created in 1995 by Yukihiro Matsumoto as an open-source language focused on simplicity. It is based on Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and is used as a development framework.
Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is a web-based markup language that tells browsers how to show images and text on websites. It’s how nearly every website on the internet displays information. For building websites, HTML and CSS are inseparable and both fundamental to programming.
All of our immersive programs include CSS in their curriculum.
